Amazon Audible Defiance Storyboards — Seb Antoniou
Storyboarded the 30-second Amazon Audible "Defiance" advert — a listening-driven spot boarded to land the sense of imagination kicking in as the audio takes over. Black and white frames covering the full 30s spot.
Storyboards by Seb Antoniou for the 2023 Amazon Audible “Defiance” 30-second commercial campaign, produced in London.
The brief
A 30-second commercial for Amazon Audible’s “Defiance” campaign. Audible’s UK lead agency is Fold7 (Campaign UK, 2024), and the brand’s recent campaign architecture has centred on the same creative problem: how to show listening as a visual idea. The boards for this spot had to land that imagination beat in 30 seconds — a listener anchored in a real-world space, then the environment opening out as the audio takes over, then a clean return to the brand frame. Audible spots are pacing puzzles before they are anything else, and pacing is a storyboard decision.
The storytelling decision
Audible briefs all come down to the same single problem: how do you show listening on screen? The boards are where you solve it. You hold on the listener long enough to make the audio land, then you cut to what they are imagining at exactly the right beat. A frame too early and it feels literal; a frame too late and you lose them.
