NatWest Short Film Storyboards — Seb Antoniou
Storyboarded a NatWest short film in 2019 — a financial-services brief boarded as a story-led piece rather than a product film. Black and white frames covering the full narrative arc, with continuity worked out at the board stage.
Storyboards by Seb Antoniou for the 2019 NatWest short film campaign, produced in London.
The brief
A NatWest short film commissioned in 2019 as a story-led piece rather than a straight product spot. Financial-services briefs in the UK have shifted away from rate-card messaging toward character-driven films that put a customer or staff member at the centre. The boards had to cover the full narrative arc — opening scene, midpoint, emotional turn, resolution — so the director had a clear shot list and the producer could budget the day. Pre-production was the place to lock the tone, because once a financial-services shoot is on the floor the cost of finding the story in the cut is too high to absorb.
The storytelling decision
Financial-services briefs live or die on whether the audience feels something before they hear the brand. The board is where you decide whether the first thirty seconds are character or category — and that decision is almost impossible to reverse once you are on set.
